Memory of Space

Like sound, space embraces us, immerses us, passes through us. It guides and directs our paths, defines our movements and behaviors, our rhythm; it structures our views and perspectives. In a word, it shapes our world.

Childhood Memory of a Place

We are a nation hell-bent on erasing our history in the name of progressive virtue. Our very narrative as a nation is continually being corrected and rewritten. It is a people of poor and immature minds that spend their lives focused on the sins of those who are already dead. Healing comes through unity, not division. Our goal is not to understand each other, as we never completely can; our experiences are anecdotal and vary by individual. Rather we ought to love each other despite our differences. A policy can never incite virtue; our continual expectations in government institutions will always leave us lacking. Government has its place, but not between two people or two groups or two communities. It is the people who must accept responsibility and make the change. Civic peace can not be found in the annals of court cases. And how to consider and preserve the past? As values and attitudes regarding ideals change, how do the monuments that commemorate those ideals still have relevance?
